Liberty Township, OH (December 6, 2024) – A tragic wrong-way crash occurred Thursday night on U.S. Route 23 south of Cheshire Road in Liberty Township. The incident took place around 10:40 p.m. when 50-year-old Christopher Carden of Ohio was driving a Honda CRV southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. Route 23. The SUV collided head-on with a Ford Transit Van traveling northbound on the same road.
Carden was pronounced dead at the scene due to the impact of the collision. The driver of the Transit Van sustained serious injuries and was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital for medical treatment. Fortunately, the severity of the injuries was not reported as life-threatening, but the victim remains under medical care.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the circumstances leading up to the crash, and they have not released further details at this time.
