Lexington, SC (October 2, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred Tuesday morning in Lexington County, resulting in the death of a local woman and injuries to another individual. The incident took place around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Longview Street and Boiling Springs Road.
According to officials, Nita Lynn Regino, a 52-year-old resident of Lexington, was driving a 2019 Chevrolet sedan north on Longview Street. As she attempted to turn west onto Boiling Springs Road, her vehicle was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling west on Boiling Springs Road.
The collision caused the pickup truck to veer off the left side of the road and into a ditch, while Regino’s sedan veered off the right side and also crashed into a ditch. Tragically, Regino died at the scene from her injuries.
Emergency responders transported the driver of the pickup truck to Lexington Medical Center for treatment. Further information regarding the condition of the pickup driver has not yet been released. Authorities confirmed that both drivers were the only occupants in their vehicles, and no additional injuries were reported.
Regino was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher. There is currently no information available regarding whether the pickup driver was wearing a seat belt. The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
