Lewis Township, MN (November 17, 2024) – A pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 47 near 320th Avenue in Mille Lacs County on Friday evening.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:40 PM when a 2013 Chevy Tahoe traveling southbound on Highway 47 collided with a pedestrian who was walking northbound in the roadway. The pedestrian, identified as 37-year-old Fawn Pauline Morse of Lewis Township, was struck near the intersection with 320th Avenue.
Emergency responders, including Life Link Air Ambulance, Isle Ambulance, and deputies from the Kanabec and Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Offices, arrived quickly to assist. Medics provided immediate care, and Morse was transported to Mora Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Officials confirmed that alcohol was a factor for the pedestrian.
The driver of the Chevy Tahoe, Chad William Hummel, 57, and his passenger, Joleen Joanne Kosloski, 37, both of Lewis Township, were unharmed. Authorities noted that road conditions were dry at the time of the collision, and there was no alcohol involvement on the part of the driver.
