Lenox, NY (March 5, 2025) – An 87-year-old man lost his life, and another person was injured in a two-car crash on Route 31 in Madison County on Tuesday evening.
The accident was reported at approximately 6:55 p.m. in the 3300 block of Route 31, about five miles southwest of Sylvan Beach. According to Madison County spokesperson Samantha Field, the crash occurred when Leo O’Donnell, 87, of Canastota, was traveling east in a Chrysler 300. His vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with an oncoming 2021 Chevrolet Silverado.
The driver of the Silverado, Jason Weibel, 43, of Lockport, was not injured. However, his passenger, Adam Finch, 42, also of Lockport, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Oneida Health Hospital in Oneida for treatment.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash and are asking anyone with information to contact the Madison County Sheriff’s Office at 315-366-2311.
