Lenexa, KS (January 19, 2025) – A tragic car accident at the intersection of W 89th Terrace and Park St late Friday night resulted in one fatality and the arrest of a driver on suspicion of driving under the influence. The Lenexa Police Department (LPD) responded to the crash at approximately 11:10 p.m. on January 17.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that two vehicles, a Toyota RAV4 and a Ford Bronco, had collided and ended up off the roadway in a nearby yard. According to LPD’s Traffic Safety Unit, the collision occurred when the Ford Bronco, traveling east on W 89th Terrace, failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the Toyota RAV4, which was traveling south on Park St.
Tragically, the driver of the Toyota RAV4 was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The two occupants of the Ford Bronco were unharmed. The driver of the Bronco, a woman suspected of being intoxicated, was arrested at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to gather more information.
