Leeton, MO (December 6, 2024) – A 65-year-old driver is recovering after a serious collision with a semi-truck on Missouri Highway 2 near Leeton High School. The accident occurred around 7:45 a.m. when a 2020 Peterbilt semi-truck, driven by a 44-year-old male from Warrensburg, failed to stop at an intersection and struck the driver’s side of a 2018 Chevrolet. The Chevrolet, driven by a 65-year-old male from Leeton, was traveling through the intersection when the crash occurred.
Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, and the driver of the Chevrolet was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. All involved parties were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The semi-truck sustained extensive damage, while the Chevrolet was totaled in the collision. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, but no additional details have been released.
