Las Vegas, NV (November 6, 2024) – A serious hit-and-run accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in critical injuries to a 55-year-old woman. The incident took place shortly before 1 p.m. at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Tonopah Drive, near M.L.K. Boulevard.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, evidence at the scene indicated that the driver of a blue Mercedes Benz was traveling eastbound on Washington Avenue when they failed to obey a red traffic signal. The vehicle entered the intersection and collided with the passenger side of a Chevrolet, causing significant damage. The impact redirected the Chevrolet, which then struck a curb and a cinder block wall, leading to the vehicle overturning onto its roof.
Following the collision, the Mercedes Benz continued east while rotating and subsequently hit a fire hydrant. Witnesses reported that the occupants of the Mercedes Benz exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
Emergency responders arrived promptly, and all three occupants of the Chevrolet were transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. Unfortunately, a female passenger in the Chevrolet sustained critical injuries as a result of the crash.
