Las Vegas, NV (January 1, 2024) – A motorcyclist lost his life in a tragic accident on New Year’s Eve in the east valley. The crash occurred around 11:40 p.m. at the intersection of East Flamingo Rd and South Seville St, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).
Authorities reported that a 2005 Nissan Titan was traveling westbound on Flamingo Rd as a 2024 Yamaha YZFR1 motorcycle was speeding eastbound. The collision occurred when the Nissan attempted a left turn, and the motorcycle struck the front-right side of the Nissan. The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The driver of the Nissan, who remained at the scene along with a passenger, exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested on charges related to DUI and endangering a child. Police confirmed that the collision marked the 159th traffic-related fatality within LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2024.
The crash remains under investigation by LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.
