Lapeer County, MI (March 5, 2025) – A fatal crash in southern Lapeer County claimed the life of a 61-year-old woman and left a 17-year-old male injured on Tuesday morning.
According to the Metamora Township Police Department, the accident occurred around 7:29 a.m. on South Lapeer Road (M-24) near Brocker Road. A 1971 AM General M931A2, traveling southbound, crossed the center line and collided with a 2015 Jeep Cherokee driven by 61-year-old Roxann Johnson of Oxford.
Emergency responders used the Jaws of Life to extricate Johnson from her vehicle. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The 17-year-old male from Genesee County, who was in the other vehicle, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Authorities shut down M-24 for approximately two and a half hours to conduct their investigation and assist at the scene. The Metamora Township Police Department is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash and is seeking information from any witnesses.
