Lansing, KS (November 12, 2024) – A tragic two-vehicle collision claimed the life of a motorcycle rider and left a car passenger seriously injured on Monday afternoon in Leavenworth County. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported the crash at 2:47 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street (US-73) and Fairlane Street.
Authorities stated that a southbound 2024 Harley-Davidson motorcycle collided with a northbound 2009 Mercedes-Benz C-Class that was turning left onto Fairlane Street. The impact occurred on the passenger side of the Mercedes after the motorcycle struck the vehicle.
The motorcycle rider, identified as Trevor Duane White, 22, of Leavenworth, was pronounced dead at the scene. White was not wearing a helmet, according to the patrol.
The driver of the Mercedes, George Steger, 89, of Leavenworth, was uninjured. A passenger in the Mercedes, Karen Ferengel, 73, was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment. Both Steger and Ferengel were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
