Lancaster, PA (December 20, 2024) – A man was hospitalized Wednesday morning following a forklift accident at the Armstrong facility on Dillerville Rd in Lancaster. The incident occurred around 6:30 AM when a forklift reportedly fell on the man, trapping his leg.
Fire crews from the Lancaster City Bureau of Fire arrived promptly and used specialized airbag-like equipment to lift the heavy machine off the man’s leg. The rescue operation was carried out quickly and efficiently, ensuring the victim received immediate care.
Chief Todd Hutchinson of the Lancaster City Bureau of Fire praised his team’s swift response and readiness for such unique situations. “Our crews are trained and ready to respond to an incident like that, and without hesitation, went right into the rescue operation,” Hutchinson said.
After freeing the man’s leg, firefighters applied pressure and a tourniquet to control bleeding before transporting him to a nearby hospital. While his condition remains unclear, reports indicate he was in significant pain at the time of transport.
The incident is under investigation, and no further details have been provided.
Our thoughts are with the injured worker, and we hope for his speedy recovery.
