Lancaster County, PA (November 7, 2024) – A Pennsylvania State Police trooper sustained injuries in a crash on Route 741 in Manheim Township on Tuesday afternoon. The accident occurred around 1:45 p.m. as the trooper, operating a marked police motorcycle, was exiting Route 283 onto Route 741 when a pickup truck made a left turn onto McGovernville Rd directly in front of him.
The trooper was unable to stop in time, resulting in a rear-end collision with the truck. The impact threw the trooper from his motorcycle, which then collided with another vehicle across the roadway. Emergency responders arrived promptly, and the trooper was transported to a local hospital for treatment of ankle and shoulder injuries. Fortunately, no other individuals involved in the accident reported injuries.
Our thoughts are with the injured trooper, and we wish him a full and swift recovery.
Motorcycle Safety and Awareness in Pennsylvania
Motorcycle accidents pose serious risks for riders, as they are more vulnerable to injuries during collisions, especially at high-traffic intersections like Route 741 and McGovernville Rd. Pennsylvania promotes motorcycle safety awareness, emphasizing the importance of vigilant driving, respecting motorcycle space on the road, and using turn signals well in advance. These practices help reduce the risk of accidents, particularly when vehicles make unexpected turns or lane changes.
If you or someone you know has been affected by a motorcycle accident, accessing medical and legal resources can be crucial to recovery.
