Lake Ronkonkoma, NY (September 13, 2024) – A 14-year-old boy was critically injured Thursday, September 12, after being struck by a 2024 Volkswagen SUV on Smith Rd. Suffolk County Police reported that the teenager was rollerblading in the roadway when a 56-year-old woman from Nesconset hit him around 4:30 p.m.

Emergency responders transported the teen to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The driver was unharmed in the incident.

Authorities impounded the Volkswagen for a safety inspection, and the investigation is ongoing as more details become available.
