Lake County, FL (January 14, 2025) – A tragic hit-and-run accident claimed the life of a 37-year-old man from Auburndale on Monday evening along US-27 near Margaux Dr. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is actively seeking the driver responsible for the incident.
The crash occurred shortly before 7 p.m. when a tow truck was stopped partially in the outside lane and shoulder of southbound US-27. The tow truck driver was assisting the victim, who was standing behind his disabled vehicle and directing traffic to the next lane.

The vehicle struck the pedestrian, causing him to collide with the tow truck’s driver-side mirror. The impact proved fatal, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time.
