Lake County, FL – 66-Year-Old Woman Killed in Accident on Florida’s Turnpike Near SR-19

Lake County, FL (September 2, 2024) – A 66-year-old woman died after a crash on Florida’s Turnpike near SR-19 late Saturday night, September 1. The accident occurred around 11 p.m. when a 2021 Buick Enclave, traveling northbound at mile marker 283, failed to navigate a curve. The Buick hit a concrete barrier, rotated, and collided with the outside barrier. The impact redirected the Buick into the path of a 2015 Toyota Rav4, causing another collision.

The woman driving the Buick was transported to Leesburg Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The 82-year-old man driving the Toyota remained at the scene and was unharmed.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash and are expected to provide updates as more information becomes available.
