Lake City, MN (October 14, 2024) – A vehicle collision resulting in injuries occurred on October 12 at approximately 1:28 PM at the intersection of Highway 61 and Borners Court. Emergency responders were alerted to the scene following reports of the incident, which involved two vehicles traveling southbound on Highway 61.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2018 Cadillac Escalade, driven by 73-year-old Ross Lyle Mattke of Lake City, made contact with a 2017 Toyota Rav4, driven by 44-year-old Kati Ann Tri of Pine Island. The collision resulted in the deployment of airbags in the Cadillac Escalade, while the Toyota Rav4’s airbags did not deploy.
In the Cadillac Escalade, both the driver and his 69-year-old passenger, Margaret Lynn Mattke, reported no injuries and did not require medical attention. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, and there was no indication of alcohol involvement.
In the Toyota Rav4, Kati Ann Tri also reported no injuries. However, two passengers, 72-year-old Peggy Lee Tri and 75-year-old Robert Richard Tri, both from Zumbrota, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Lake City Hospital for further evaluation. Peggy Lee Tri was wearing her seat belt, while Robert Richard Tri was not.
The road conditions at the time of the accident were dry, which may have contributed to the circumstances surrounding the collision. The Lake City Police Department, along with the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office and Lake City Ambulance and Fire, responded to the scene to provide assistance and investigate the incident.
