Lake City, FL (January 3, 2025) – A tragic single-vehicle crash on Southwest Baya Dr claimed the lives of a Lake City couple Thursday afternoon. The Lake City Police Department confirmed the incident, which occurred around 3:16 p.m. near Southeast Perry Ave, in a news release.
The police investigation revealed that the vehicle, driven by 51-year-old Charles Harrison Fails, was traveling east on SW Baya Dr when it lost control, veered onto the sidewalk, and struck a utility pole. His wife, 49-year-old Tracy Carol Fails, was the sole passenger in the vehicle. Both individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
