LaGrange, NY (October 16, 2024) – A tragic head-on collision occurred on the Taconic State Parkway near Todd Hill Road, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. According to New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks, the incident involved a 2017 BMW X1 driven by 35-year-old Joseph W. LaFave of LaGrange, who was traveling north in the southbound lane.
The collision took place when LaFave struck a 2017 Lincoln Navigator head-on in the left southbound lane. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where LaFave was pronounced dead by paramedics.
The driver of the Lincoln Navigator, identified as 69-year-old William F. Scheibel from Wading River, Suffolk County, was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie. Unfortunately, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Additionally, a 67-year-old female passenger in Scheibel’s vehicle was also taken to the hospital, where she is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
