According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash involved a 2021 Hyundai and a 2018 Ram, both traveling northbound. The accident occurred when the Hyundai, driven by a 33-year-old male from Warrensburg, MO, overtook the Ram and struck its rear. The impact caused the Hyundai to veer off the roadway and collide with a ditch, sustaining extensive damage. The vehicle was later towed by Tip Top Towing.

The driver of the Hyundai suffered injuries and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center for treatment. The Ram sustained moderate damage but was operational and driven from the scene. Its driver, also a 33-year-old male from Warrensburg, MO, was uninjured. Both individuals were confirmed to be wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
