Lafayette County, MO (December 07, 2024) – A tragic crash occurred today at approximately 3:20 PM on US 24 at Plainview Lane in Lafayette County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash involved two vehicles: a 1992 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and a 2016 Ford F-150. The collision was a head-on impact, with the Chevrolet Silverado crossing the center line and striking the Ford F-150.
The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, a 61-year-old male from Lexington, MO, was fatally injured in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy C. Burns at 3:29 PM. The driver of the Ford F-150, a 70-year-old male from Independence, MO, sustained serious injuries and was transported by LifeFlight air ambulance to KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.
A 13-year-old male passenger in the Chevrolet Silverado, from Independence, MO, was also injured in the collision. He sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Wellington EMS to CenterPoint Hospital in Independence, MO.
The crash marks Fatality #68 for Troop A in 2024, and it is a heartbreaking reminder of the risks involved in driving. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Jackson County Tow.
