King City, MO (November 22, 2024) – A severe multi-vehicle collision occurred Thursday morning on RT-Z, approximately seven miles east of King City, resulting in serious injuries to two individuals. The accident, which involved a 2015 Ford F250 and two Peterbilt trucks, took place at approximately 9:15 AM.
Emergency responders, including King City Fire and Grand River EMS, rushed to the scene to assist those injured in the crash. The incident began when a westbound Ford F250 and an eastbound Peterbilt sideswiped while crowding the center of the roadway. Following the impact, the Ford F250 veered into the opposing lane, colliding head-on with a second Peterbilt. The second Peterbilt then left the roadway, overturned on its driver’s side after striking an embankment, and came to rest off the south side of the roadway.
The Ford F250 sustained total damage and came to rest on its wheels in the roadway, while the first Peterbilt, with minor damage, was driven away. The second Peterbilt also suffered total damage and was towed from the scene.
A 29-year-old male driver from Pattonsburg, MO, operating the Ford F250, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted by Life Flight Eagle to Truman Medical Center. Similarly, a 65-year-old male driver from Amazonia, MO, driving the second Peterbilt, was seriously injured and transported by Mercy 1 Life Flight to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA. Both were reported to have been wearing safety devices at the time of the collision. The 45-year-old male driver of the first Peterbilt, insured by Progressive, sustained no reported injuries.
The Gentry County Sheriff’s Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop H continue to investigate the crash with assistance from Cpl. C.J. Sullivan and other local agencies.
