Kansas City, MO (January 3, 2025) – Police have identified the two victims killed in a crash caused by illegal street racing Monday in south Kansas City. Verne Zugenbuhler, 91, and Diane Zugenbuhler, 72, tragically lost their lives in the collision at Wornall Rd and Carondelet Dr.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, a black Chrysler 300 and a silver Dodge were involved in a high-speed race that began at West 99th St and Wornall Rd. As the cars raced south on Wornall Rd, the Chrysler 300 collided with the Zugenbuhlers’ vehicle as they attempted to turn onto Carondelet Dr. The force of the impact resulted in fatal injuries to both occupants of the Zugenbuhlers’ car.
The driver of the Chrysler was injured in the crash, but no updates have been provided on their condition. The status of the driver of the silver Dodge remains unknown. Authorities have not filed criminal charges related to the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
