Kansas City, MO (February 3, 2025) – Firefighters responded to a building fire early Monday morning at 11515 Holmes Rd, where one person sustained injuries.
Kansas City Fire Department crews arrived at the scene just before 7 a.m. after receiving reports of smoke coming from a two-story vacant building, formerly the Waterford South Assisted Living facility. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered significant smoke and flames, prompting a defensive firefighting approach from the exterior.
Emergency responders assisted an individual at the scene, identified as a houseless person, who suffered minor injuries. Medics transported the injured individual to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
Due to the intensity of the fire, crews evacuated the structure and continued battling the flames from the outside. Officials have not yet determined the cause of the fire, and an investigation is ongoing.
