Winter Driving Risks in Missouri
Winter weather poses a significant risk to drivers, with snow and ice increasing the likelihood of losing control on the road. Missouri, like many Midwestern states, experiences hazardous conditions during the winter months, especially during early morning hours when ice is less visible. Speeding on snow-covered roads remains a common cause of severe accidents, including rollovers and multi-vehicle collisions.
This tragic crash on I-435 highlights the critical importance of adjusting driving speeds and maintaining caution in inclement weather. Missouri Highway Patrol advises drivers to reduce their speed and increase following distances during snowy and icy conditions. Regular vehicle maintenance, such as checking tires and brakes, can also prevent accidents caused by reduced traction on icy surfaces.
