Kansas City, MO (September 21, 2024) – A serious chain-reaction crash occurred on Friday night, September 20, involving four vehicles and resulting in injuries to at least five individuals. The incident took place around 11:12 p.m. on I-29, just outside the Kansas City International Airport.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, an unknown vehicle rear-ended a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe while it was traveling south on I-29. The impact caused the Chevrolet to veer into the northbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a 2015 GMC Sierra. The force of the collision then pushed the GMC into a 2004 Honda Pilot, resulting in the Pilot rolling over.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to assist those involved in the crash. Fortunately, all five individuals injured were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident:
- Car #2: The 56-year-old driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
- Car #3: The 52-year-old driver of the GMC Sierra, along with two 24-year-old passengers, also suffered minor injuries. The driver was taken to the hospital by another individual, while EMS transported the two passengers for medical care.
- Car #4: The 50-year-old driver of the Honda Pilot was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
As of now, there is no information available regarding the vehicle that caused the crash or its driver. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
