Kansas City, KS (February 13, 2025) – A tragic rollover crash in Wyandotte County on Wednesday night left one person dead and another seriously injured. The Kansas Highway Patrol responded to the crash, which was reported at 7:15 p.m. near the Interstate 70 and Interstate 635 interchange in Kansas City, Kansas.
According to officials, a 2022 Ford utility vehicle was traveling eastbound on I-70 when it veered off the roadway, entered the gore area, and continued into a ditch. The vehicle then vaulted, landed front-first in the right ditch of southbound I-635, and rolled onto its roof.
The driver, John Carr, 75, of Batavia, Illinois, was transported to the University of Kansas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The passenger, Judy Carr, 74, also of Batavia, Illinois, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the same hospital for treatment.
Authorities confirmed that both occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the accident, considering factors such as road conditions, driver health, or mechanical failure.
