Joplin, MO (December 19, 2024) – Emergency responders arrived swiftly at the scene of a serious two-vehicle crash on MO 66, one mile west of Joplin, late Wednesday afternoon. The collision occurred at approximately 5:50 PM and involved a 2012 Dodge Journey and a 2014 GMC Terrain.
According to reports, the Dodge Journey, traveling northbound, failed to yield and struck the GMC Terrain traveling westbound. The force of the impact caused the GMC Terrain to overturn. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene by Comer’s Towing. The driver of the Dodge, a 46-year-old woman from Joplin, MO, was reportedly unharmed. The driver of the GMC, a 60-year-old woman from Baxter Springs, KS, suffered serious injuries and was transported by EMS to Mercy Hospital in Joplin for treatment.
First responders, including medics and fire crews, provided prompt assistance to the injured individual. The accident is currently under investigation by law enforcement authorities, with assistance from additional personnel on-site, including CPL M.R. Cook, TPR D.J. Maupin, and TPR B.C. Bridges.
