Joplin, MO (October 5, 2024) – A traffic accident occurred on Thursday afternoon, October 3 on I-44, approximately one mile east of Joplin, resulting in injuries. The incident took place around 4:40 PM and is currently under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
According to the crash report, the accident involved two vehicles: a 2011 Chrysler Town and Country minivan and a 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander. The driver of the minivan, 27-year-old Amber L. McGuirk from Reeds, MO, was traveling in the right lane when the crash occurred. The 49-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi, Robert M. Clowers from Cave Springs, AR, was in the left lane.
Preliminary investigations indicate that as the Chrysler changed lanes, it struck the Mitsubishi. Following the collision, the Mitsubishi ran off the left side of the road and struck the median cable barrier. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to assist those involved.
Amber McGuirk sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Carthage, MO, for treatment. Fortunately, Robert Clowers did not report any injuries and was able to drive his vehicle from the scene.
