Jones County, IA (January 23, 2025) – Yesterday a tragic head-on collision on Highway 151 near Basham Lane has left one person dead and another injured, according to the Iowa State Patrol. The crash occurred when the driver of a pickup truck lost control, crossed into the median, and struck an oncoming vehicle.
Authorities identified the driver of the pickup truck as 77-year-old Jimmy Kent Offen of Martelle. Offen was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle was injured, though the extent of their injuries is currently unknown.
The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the circumstances of the collision, including what may have caused the pickup truck to lose control.
