Johnson County, MO (November 24, 2024) – A two-vehicle collision on Highway 58, west of SW 1081st, left two drivers with moderate injuries on Saturday afternoon. The accident, reported at approximately 4:06 PM, involved a head-on crash caused by mechanical failure in one of the vehicles.
Emergency responders, including the Johnson County EMS and Fire teams, arrived promptly at the scene to assist those injured. According to reports, the incident occurred when the brakes of a 2005 GMC, driven by a 17-year-old male from Centerview, MO, failed as he attempted to slow for traffic. The vehicle swerved into the westbound lane, colliding head-on with a Ford F250 driven by a 49-year-old male from Holden, MO.
Both vehicles sustained total damage, with the GMC left secured roadside while the Ford F250 was towed by Warrensburg Auto Towing. The 17-year-old driver of the GMC suffered moderate injuries and was transported by JCAD to Children’s Mercy Hospital for further treatment. The 49-year-old driver of the Ford F250 also sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center.
The crash disrupted traffic on Hwy 58 as crews worked to clear the scene and ensure the safety of other drivers. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Missouri State Highway Patrol in investigating the incident to determine further contributing factors.
