The crash, reported at approximately 3:00 PM, involved a white box truck and a 2003 Ford F150. According to reports, the box truck swerved into the path of the Ford F150, causing it to veer off the roadway. The F150 became airborne, struck an embankment, and ejected its driver, a 72-year-old female from Sugar Creek, MO, who was not wearing a safety device. The white box truck fled the scene in an unknown direction, and authorities are actively searching for the vehicle and its driver.
The driver of the Ford F150 sustained serious injuries and was transported to Research Hospital by Johnson County EMS for treatment. The F150 was towed from the scene by Tip Top Towing.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is leading the investigation and urges anyone with information about the fleeing vehicle to come forward.
