Jerome, ID (February 19, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision on US 93 in Jerome County Tuesday morning claimed the life of a Filer man, according to the Idaho State Police.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:50 a.m. at the intersection of US 93 and 100 South. Authorities reported that a 54-year-old man from Filer was driving a 2005 Subaru Legacy northbound when he attempted to turn left onto 100 South from US 93. As he made the turn, a southbound 2019 Ford F-250, driven by a 25-year-old man from Bellevue, struck his vehicle.

The Filer man, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained critical injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Ford, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not hospitalized.

The crash caused significant traffic disruptions, blocking the intersection for approximately three hours while crews worked to clear the scene. The Idaho State Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.

The community extends its condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim.

Intersection Accidents in Idaho

Collisions at intersections, particularly on high-speed highways like US 93, are a leading cause of serious and fatal crashes. When vehicles attempt left-hand turns without yielding to oncoming traffic, the risk of severe T-bone or head-on collisions increases dramatically.

Factors such as driver visibility, speed, and road conditions play a role in intersection safety. The Idaho Transportation Department works to improve these areas through signage, traffic signals, and public safety awareness, but driver attentiveness remains critical in preventing crashes.

For families impacted by fatal accidents, the emotional and financial burdens can be overwhelming. Medical expenses, funeral costs, and the loss of a loved one can create lasting hardships. Understanding legal rights and available resources can help those affected to seek support and compensation.

If you or a loved one has been impacted by a serious intersection accident in Idaho, speaking with a knowledgeable professional may help you explore options for recovery and assistance.
