Rear-End Collisions in Missouri
Rear-end collisions are one of the most common types of accidents on Missouri’s roadways. These incidents frequently occur when vehicles merge into traffic without sufficient space or fail to account for the speed of oncoming vehicles. The results can range from minor fender benders to serious crashes involving significant injuries or fatalities.
On high-speed roadways like US-67, drivers must exercise heightened caution when entering traffic, ensuring they have adequate time and space to merge safely. Proper use of turn signals and yielding to oncoming traffic are essential in preventing such accidents. Additionally, drivers already traveling in a lane should remain alert for vehicles entering from driveways or private roads.
Missouri’s Department of Transportation continues to advocate for roadway safety and increased awareness of driving best practices to reduce the frequency of rear-end collisions and other crashes. However, accidents remain a reality, and it’s critical for those involved to understand their rights and access necessary support.
