Jefferson County, TN – Paramedic Killed, Another Injured in I-40 Crash Near I-81 Interchange

Jefferson County, TN (September 1, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred at 9:30 p.m. on I-40 West near the I-81 interchange. An ambulance, responding to a previous accident, was struck by a tractor-trailer. Paramedics Jeremy Sutton and Sarah Brooks were on board.

Sutton suffered severe injuries and died shortly after arriving at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Brooks remains hospitalized in stable condition. The commercial vehicle driver was unharmed. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident; further details are expected as the investigation continues.
