Jefferson County, MO (November 19, 2024) – A rear-end collision on Old Lemay Ferry Rd at Miller Rd resulted in injuries on Monday evening. The accident occurred at approximately 5:40 p.m. and was investigated by Trooper Norton of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

According to the report, the crash happened as a 2020 Buick Enclave, driven by a 37-year-old woman from Imperial, MO, was stopped on northbound Old Lemay Ferry Rd. The Enclave was struck from behind by a 2012 Buick LaCrosse, driven by an 85-year-old man, also from Imperial. The LaCrosse sustained total damage, while the Enclave sustained moderate damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Leo’s Towing.

The driver of the Enclave sustained moderate injuries, and a 4-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries. Both were transported by Rock Township Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital-St. Louis for treatment. The driver of the LaCrosse did not report injuries at the scene.

Authorities are investigating the incident, with initial findings highlighting the importance of maintaining a safe following distance to avoid rear-end collisions.

Our thoughts are with those injured in the crash, and we wish them a swift recovery.

Rear-End Collisions in Missouri

Rear-end collisions are one of the most frequent types of vehicle accidents, often occurring at intersections or when vehicles are stopped in traffic. Such crashes are typically caused by following too closely, distracted driving, or failing to notice stopped vehicles ahead.

Missouri law emphasizes that drivers must maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front, ensuring sufficient reaction time in case of sudden stops. Failure to do so can lead to severe consequences, especially for vulnerable passengers such as children.

For those injured in rear-end crashes, navigating medical care, insurance claims, and legal considerations can be overwhelming. Accessing timely resources and understanding rights under state law is critical for recovery and obtaining compensation.
