Jefferson County, MO (February 28, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash on Route P left one person injured Thursday evening, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m. near Bonnie Lane. Authorities reported that a 2019 Ford Transit van was stopped in the southbound lane, making a parcel delivery, when a 2019 Kia Forte approached from behind and failed to stop in time. The Kia’s front right side collided with the left rear of the Transit van, causing significant damage.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene and provided aid to the driver of the Kia, a 70-year-old man from Festus, who sustained injuries. He was transported by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital South for further evaluation. The driver of the Ford Transit van, a 26-year-old man from St. Louis, was not reported to be injured.

Both vehicles sustained damage and were towed from the scene by Pippins Towing. Authorities continue to investigate the crash.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim, and we wish him a full recovery.

Rear-End Collisions in Missouri

Rear-end collisions are among the most common types of crashes, often occurring when drivers fail to recognize stopped or slowed traffic ahead. In this case, a delivery vehicle was legally stopped for a parcel drop-off when another driver did not notice in time, leading to a collision.

Missouri law requires drivers to remain attentive and maintain a safe following distance to prevent rear-end crashes. Distractions, low visibility, and driver fatigue are common contributors to these types of accidents, especially on roads where stopping traffic is unexpected.

Even minor rear-end accidents can lead to whiplash, back injuries, and lingering pain that require medical attention. Those injured in crashes caused by another driver’s inattention may have legal options to recover compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a rear-end accident, seeking medical care and legal guidance can help ensure your rights are protected. Local Accident Reports is dedicated to connecting victims with the support and resources they need after a crash.
