Jefferson County, MO (February 28, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash in Jefferson County left one person injured on Thursday afternoon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident took place at approximately 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of US-67 and Victoria Rd. Authorities reported that a 2019 Nissan Maxima, driven by a 68-year-old man from Festus, attempted to cross the southbound lanes but failed to yield, resulting in a collision with a 2018 Honda Civic traveling southbound.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene and assisted the 38-year-old driver of the Honda Civic, who suffered injuries. He was transported by Joachim-Plattin EMS to Mercy Hospital Jefferson for further evaluation. The driver of the Nissan was not reported to have sustained any injuries.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene by Miners Towing. The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim, and we wish him a full recovery.

Failure to Yield Accidents in Missouri

Failure to yield is a leading cause of intersection accidents across Missouri. These crashes often occur when drivers misjudge the speed of oncoming traffic or fail to see an approaching vehicle. In this incident on US-67, a driver attempting to cross multiple lanes led to a collision, emphasizing the importance of exercising caution at intersections.

Missouri law requires drivers to yield the right-of-way when entering or crossing a roadway. Unfortunately, failure to do so can lead to serious accidents, injuries, and property damage. Drivers should always come to a complete stop when necessary, look for oncoming vehicles, and ensure it is safe to proceed before entering an intersection.

Even minor injuries from crashes like this can lead to long-term pain, medical expenses, and disruptions to daily life. Those injured in accidents caused by another driver’s failure to yield may have legal options to recover compensation for their medical bills, lost wages, and other damages.
