Jefferson County, AR (January 16, 2025) – A fatal head-on collision on US Highway 79 South claimed the life of one woman and left another injured on the morning of January 15, 2025. The crash occurred at approximately 10:13 a.m., according to authorities.
A 2011 Ford F350, traveling southbound on US Hwy 79, crossed the center line and collided with a 2014 Mack tractor traveling northbound. The collision caused significant damage to both vehicles.
Sandra Coleman, 50, of Rison, Arkansas, the driver of the Ford F350, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her body was transported to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. Kimberly Nelms, 36, of Montrose, Arkansas, the driver of the Mack tractor, sustained injuries and was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for treatment. Her condition has not been disclosed.
Weather at the time of the crash was clear, and the road surface was dry. Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the Ford F350 crossing the center line.
