Jamesport, MO (December 17, 2024) – A serious crash occurred early Monday morning on MO 190, approximately one mile west of Jamesport, involving a 2017 Ford F350 and a 2019 Freightliner. The incident was reported at 8:09 a.m. and involved significant damage to both vehicles.

According to the report, the Freightliner, traveling westbound, slowed down to make a right-hand turn into a private driveway. The driver of the Ford F350, also traveling westbound, attempted to avoid the Freightliner but struck it in the rear driver’s side. This collision caused the Freightliner to overturn off the north side of the roadway, coming to rest on its driver’s side facing north. The Ford F350 continued off the road and came to a stop on its wheels, also on the north side of the roadway, facing west.

The 28-year-old male driver of the Freightliner, from Trenton, MO, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Daviess County Ambulance District to Wright Memorial Hospital. The 26-year-old male driver of the Ford F350, from Jamesport, MO, was uninjured, but his vehicle was totaled and towed by Bridgeman’s Towing.

The crash is under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, with assistance from Tpr. S.W. Pliley and Daviess County.

Our thoughts are with the injured individual, and we hope for their swift recovery.

Rear-End Collisions in Missouri

Rear-end collisions, such as the one on MO 190 near Jamesport, can be particularly dangerous, especially when one vehicle attempts to avoid another and ends up causing additional damage or rollover. These types of accidents can result in severe property damage and injuries, particularly when one vehicle overturns, as seen in this case with the Freightliner.

The combination of attempting to avoid a collision and the limited space on rural roads like MO 190 can exacerbate the severity of the incident. The Freightliner’s rollover and the total loss of the Ford F350 highlight the risks involved when vehicles are unable to stop or maneuver safely in time.

Accidents like these underscore the importance of being attentive and allowing sufficient space between vehicles, especially when traffic is slowing or turning. For victims of such crashes, recovery can involve medical treatment, vehicle repair, and potential insurance claims.

If you or someone you know has been involved in a rear-end collision, it’s important to understand your legal rights and seek the necessary support to recover from both the physical and financial impacts of the accident.
