Jacksonville, FL (February 19, 2025) – A tragic accident on Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of a 24-year-old Jacksonville man after his sedan rear-ended a tractor-trailer on I-295 South at the off-ramp to 103rd Street.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred at 2:58 p.m. when the sedan’s driver failed to notice stopped traffic and crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer waiting to exit. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and confirmed that the 24-year-old driver succumbed to his injuries. Miraculously, his 1-year-old passenger was unharmed in the collision.
This incident occurred less than an hour after another deadly crash on the same highway. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine any additional contributing factors.

Rear-End Collisions in Florida
Rear-end crashes, particularly those involving large commercial trucks, often result in severe or fatal injuries. The size and weight of tractor-trailers make them significantly more dangerous in collisions, especially when smaller passenger vehicles crash into the back of a stopped or slow-moving truck.
Driver distraction, fatigue, or misjudgment of traffic speed can contribute to these types of accidents. Highways and exit ramps, like the 103rd Street off-ramp on I-295, require motorists to remain vigilant, especially in congested traffic conditions where sudden stops are common.
For families affected by fatal trucking accidents, seeking legal guidance can be an essential step in understanding their rights and potential claims. Trucking companies and insurers often play a role in legal proceedings, making it crucial to have knowledgeable support during the process.
