Jacksonville, FL (December 18, 2024) – A Jacksonville man was killed in a tragic crash on North Main Street Tuesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The collision occurred around 6:58 p.m. near the intersection of Sara Drive.
Troopers reported that a sedan, driven by a 43-year-old Jacksonville man, was either attempting a U-turn or involved in a prior hit-and-run when it stopped in the inside travel lane of Mina Street. A northbound pickup truck, driven by a 68-year-old man, collided with the driver’s side of the sedan.
The impact redirected the sedan onto the inside raised concrete median, where it came to a stop facing south. The pickup truck continued north before halting in the inside travel lane of North Main Street. The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver suffered minor injuries.
The crash closed all northbound and southbound lanes of North Main Street between Eastport Road and Baisden Road while authorities investigated the incident.
Troopers are also investigating the possible involvement of a white Nissan Altima in the hit-and-run that preceded the crash. Anyone with information about this vehicle is urged to contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
