Jacksonville, AR (October 1, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred early Sunday morning, September 29, resulting in one fatality and one injury. The collision was reported at approximately 5:00 a.m. on U.S. Highway 67/167 Northbound at mile marker 7.
According to the initial reports, 71-year-old James Banks of Jacksonville was driving a 2016 Chevrolet when he collided with the rear of a 2006 Toyota driven by 44-year-old Regino Ramirez of Searcy. Both vehicles were traveling northbound in the #3 lane when the front of the Chevrolet made contact with the rear of the Toyota. The impact caused the Toyota to roll over and come to a final rest on the median shoulder, while the Chevrolet came to a stop on the right shoulder.
James Banks was pronounced deceased at the scene, while Regino Ramirez sustained injuries and was transported to Baptist Spring Hill Medical Center for medical treatment.
The Pulaski County Coroner’s Office is handling the deceased, and the Arkansas State Police are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
