Jackson County, MO (January 9, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision on I-470 Southbound near MO-291 in Jackson County resulted in injuries and significant vehicle damage on Wednesday evening. The crash occurred at approximately 5:40 p.m., prompting a response from local emergency services and law enforcement.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash involved a 2004 Honda Civic and a 2009 Lexus RX350, both traveling southbound. The incident occurred when the Honda Civic, driven by a 31-year-old female from Kansas City, MO, struck the rear of the Lexus. The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles.
The Honda Civic sustained total damage and was towed from the scene by Elite Towing. The Lexus suffered moderate damage and was also towed from the scene. The driver of the Lexus, a 58-year-old female from Grandview, MO, sustained injuries and was transported to St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit by Lees Summit Fire Department. The driver of the Honda Civic was unharmed. Both drivers were confirmed to be wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The collision remains under investigation by MSGT R. S. Smith (691), with assistance from TPR A. K. Booker (239).
