Jackson County, MO (December 22, 2024) – A tragic multi-vehicle crash occurred Saturday evening on US 50 westbound at Route F, claiming the life of one individual and resulting in serious injuries to two others. The collision, investigated by MSGT R.S. Smith and MCIU Team #1 CPL N.A. Perez, took place at approximately 7:44 p.m. and involved three vehicles.
The crash happened when a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 55-year-old male from Oak Grove, MO, attempted to cross the westbound lanes of US 50 and entered the path of a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 66-year-old male from Sedalia, MO. The impact caused the 1997 Silverado to slide into a 2019 Ford F-150, driven by a 67-year-old male from Sibley, MO.
The 1997 Chevrolet and the 2002 Chevrolet sustained total damage and were towed by Ron’s Towing. The Ford F-150 had minor damage and was driven from the scene. As a result of this accident, a 54-year-old male occupant of the 1997 Silverado sustained serious injuries and was transported to Centerpoint Hospital by Johnson County Ambulance District; a 66-year-old female occupant of the 2002 Silverado also suffered serious injuries and was transported to Centerpoint Hospital by Southern Jackson County Fire; the 66-year-old driver of the 2002 Silverado refused medical treatment at the scene; and, tragically, an 85-year-old male occupant of the 1997 Silverado succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at Centerpoint Hospital at 8:34 p.m. by Dr. L. Byerly.
This collision marked Troop A’s 72nd fatal crash and the 80th fatality for 2024. Emergency responders and local authorities, including the Lone Jack Police Department, worked diligently to assist at the scene and clear the roadway.
