Island Park, ID (December 19, 2024) – A serious collision involving a compact car and a semi-truck occurred near mile marker 386 on US Highway 20 on Tuesday evening. Idaho State Police reported the crash at approximately 7:47 p.m., prompting a multi-agency emergency response.
A grey 2006 Toyota Matrix, driven by a 24-year-old female with a 23-year-old female passenger, both from Jacksonville, Florida, was traveling eastbound when it collided with a white 2021 Freightliner in the westbound lanes. The Freightliner was operated by a 31-year-old male with a 39-year-old male passenger, both from Brooklyn, New York.
Both passengers in the Toyota Matrix, who were wearing seatbelts, sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver and passenger of the Freightliner, also wearing seatbelts, were not injured and did not require transportation.
Idaho State Police are actively investigating the incident, with assistance from the Idaho Department of Transportation, Fremont EMS, and the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office. We wish all involved a swift recovery and commend the emergency services for their prompt response.
