Inver Grove Heights, MN (December 16, 2024) – A fatal collision involving two vehicles occurred on northbound Highway 52 at Concord Blvd in Inver Grove Heights, Dakota County, on Saturday afternoon. The crash, reported at approximately 1:29 PM, tragically resulted in one fatality.
According to authorities, a white 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling up the entrance ramp from Concord Blvd to northbound Highway 52 when it lost control at the top of the ramp. The truck crossed over the northbound lanes, colliding with a 2024 Mazda CX-90 traveling in the same direction. The Chevrolet came to rest on the left shoulder, while the Mazda stopped in the left lane.
The driver of the Chevrolet pickup, identified as 74-year-old Willard Henry Pohl of Inver Grove Heights, was fatally injured in the crash. Investigators confirmed that he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident. The driver and passengers of the Mazda CX-90, including a 39-year-old man, his wife, and their four children, were uninjured.
Emergency responders from Inver Grove Heights Police and Fire Departments, as well as M-Health Ambulance, assisted at the scene.
