Huntsville, AL (January 7, 2025) – A tragic collision on Interstate 565 eastbound claimed one life and left another individual injured late Monday night, according to officials with the Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc. (HEMSI).
The crash occurred around 9:40 p.m. on I-565 eastbound, just west of the Jordan Ln exit. Emergency responders, including medics and Huntsville Police Department (HPD) officers, were quick to arrive at the scene. One individual was pronounced dead on-site, while another male victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Huntsville Hospital Trauma Service for treatment.
Authorities closed all eastbound lanes of I-565 at approximately 9:54 p.m. to manage the scene and begin an investigation. Preliminary information from an HPD spokesperson indicates that one of the vehicles involved may have been stopped in the roadway prior to the collision. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and it remains unclear if any charges will be filed.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
