Huntington, WV (February 13, 2025) – A tragic accident occurred Wednesday night when a vehicle crashed into a gas station on 5th Street Road, resulting in the death of the driver.
West Virginia State Police (WVSP) identified the driver as 24-year-old Dustin Vega of Huntington. Authorities say Vega was traveling south on Route 152 when his vehicle veered off the road, struck a gas pump at the Speedway station, and then crashed into a nearby creek.
Emergency crews, including the Huntington Fire Department, Huntington Police Department, and Cabell County EMS, responded to the scene around 9:25 p.m. The gas pump caught fire upon impact but was quickly extinguished before spreading to the building. Initial reports suggested the possibility of a second occupant, but security footage confirmed that Vega was alone in the vehicle.
Vega was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment but succumbed to his injuries a short time later. Investigators have found no evidence that drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Dustin Vega during this difficult time.
