Huntington, AR (December 30, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred at the intersection of Hwy 71 and Palestine Rd in Huntington, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. The collision took place at approximately 3:10 PM today.
According to initial reports, a 2017 Chevy Malibu traveling northbound on Hwy 71 lost control and veered into the southbound lane, where it was struck by a 2022 Ram 1500 traveling south. The crash caused severe damage to both vehicles.
A female occupant of the Chevy Malibu, whose identity remains undisclosed, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Sebastian County Coroner took custody of her body. Two other individuals were injured in the collision: Chloe Walters, 19, of Huntington, who was driving the Malibu, and Daran Stovall, 58, of El Paso, who was driving the Ram 1500. Both were transported to Mercy Hospital Fort Smith for medical care.
The incident is under investigation by the Arkansas State Police, with Trp. Tucker Phelps leading the efforts. Authorities continue to work to determine the specific factors contributing to this tragic accident.
