Humboldt, KS (November 19, 2024) – A tragic collision involving a pickup truck and a semi-truck occurred Monday evening on U.S. 169, approximately two miles north-northeast of Humboldt. The crash claimed the life of a 54-year-old woman and left the semi-driver injured.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that the accident happened shortly before 8 p.m. when a southbound Toyota pickup driven by Melany June Felt, 54, of Blue Mound, crossed into the northbound lane. A semi-truck traveling north attempted to avoid the oncoming pickup by steering to the right shoulder, but the two vehicles collided.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to provide assistance. Tragically, Felt was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of her injuries. The 53-year-old semi-driver, a man from Parsons, sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Both drivers were confirmed to have been wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
